Unbelievably good album. Remember when I first heard this in 2000 (after a couple of years off collecting DnB and it launched me straight back into collecting!Still in 2018, it is an absolute pleasure and sets the standard

This is a great album of turn-of-the-century darkside drum 'n' bass from one of the most well-known collectives in the history of the sound. For those who aren't familiar with their work, the re-issued first cd is a great place to start, with such classics as 'Dead-side', 'Sentient', 'Oxygen (The Drilla Killer)' and the brilliant tramen and reece workout, 'Nitrous' all giving an accurate account of the lads' production mastery. The second cd is a decent collection of unreleased tunes, including my personal favourites: the uncompromising 'Excession' and the gnarled bass roller,(and another great Bad Company/Moving Fusion collaborative effort) 'Splatter House'. While I applaud this recent idea of celebrated producers releasing lost and found compilations, I feel I have to bemoan the cd-only format release as I'd love to have some of these 'new' tunes on vinyl at last, after nearly ten years' wait! The bottom line though, is that this offering is well worth the money I paid, and has pride of place in mine and any self-respecting d'n'b head's collection.

When this album was first announced along with a second cd of unreleased tunes, the fanbase when into hyperdrive and this release could not come soon enough! Bad company are legends within Drum & bass [they split in 2003]and fans have never forgotten their influence which changed the scene for the better with their heavy drums, paranoid soundscapes and basslines that made you feel like you had been punched by a heavyweight. My personal favourite is the epic 'Colonies' which starts with a dreamy mellow vibe before showing it's uglier side halfway through, a slamming tune. CD 1 is their classic debut album 'Inside the machine' in it's full glory containing the all time classic 'Nitrous' which used to get played about 20 times in a night at any rave back in 2000. This is a fantastic album and it was nice to listen to it again and appreciate the effort that had been put in. The most important aspect though of this album is cd 2 which is the 'Lost & found' tunes showcase and a nostalgic experience for the early dnb heads. All ten tunes showcase the talents of the boys and just how far ahead they were when they were at their peak. Tunes like 'Ease down', 'Tendon', 'Excession' & Beacon' are just awesome with their hectic drums and dark bass capturing the dark drum and bass sound with the funk factor intact, of those days. You also get the huge 'Sneakers' featuring Trace which was probably the most requested tune on the album. This is a fantastic 2cd set from 'Bad company' and a little thank you for the fan's who have dreamt of this getting released for a good few years now! This is a must for any drum & bass fan out there and one of the finest drum & bass albums of all time.

'Inside the machine' is one of the best drum & bass albums of all times and it's not hard to hear why. This took the scene by storm and launched the biggest drum & bass group of all time. Every tune on this album is a stormer full of dark atmospherics and deep bass. 'Colonies' is just sublime, a musical jouney which takes a dark twist in the middle, jekyl & hyde style!. 'Brain-scan' is a synth led tune with a techno twist, this was played by nearly every dj at the time. 'Oxygen' is my favourite from the lp, consisting of a intro sounding like all the horror movie scores! and a break to wet your bed for! When the bassline kicks in then you wonder how this tune was possible! 'Dead side' has a nice haunting intro and is a storming roller. 'Nitrous' is another favourite and a monster of a tune with a dark reece bassline and storming tramen breaks. This is just the devil's anthem!'Sentient' 'Forgotten [remember inferno anyone?!]'Silicon dawn' &'Trick of the light'are all amazing tunes. This album is superb and is essential if you like drum & bass or if you just want to be punished for all the sin's you have committed in life!

Oh man... What can be said about this release that hasn't already been said? This is some of the tightest and darkest techstep that has ever been put to wax. The bass lines are thick and heavy, and the drums are crisp. The techstep influence means that there's a lot of synthy sounds incoporated into the music, which adds a nice sci-fi feel to the music, as it usually does with this style. My favourite song (as hard as it is to choose) is "Colonies" - 9 minutes of breathtaking atmsopheric sonic assault. An absolute must have!

This is quality Bad Company material. When listening to it, I can see how their style has evolved into what it is today. This, I consider to be "older" BC. It's much more raw and hard hitting than their latter material. Their more recent records like Shot Down on Safari, Book of the Bad, and Best of the Bad are much more musical, although deeply rooted in excellent BC fashion. Love 'em or hate 'em, Bad Company has created a sound that is unmistakable. Much like Ram Trilogy, not in style, but in creating and sticking to a definitive sound. Bad Company makes up some of the front runners in UK dnb.
