The Stoneface & Terminal remix is impressive.

This is one massive release! I have my doubts on why it wasn't released on the bigger Vandit Records, but still that doesn't detract from the quality of the three tracks presented in this release. First comes the Original, which of the three is the one which is fully melody driven I think. The breakdown is absolutely beautiful, mesmerizing and it sends chills down my spine every time I hear it. Then, the lead line makes its appearance and later there's no holding back. All in all, this is a TRANCE record as they should be. Engaging, pumping yet smooth, melodic and significant in the huge sea of records there's out there. Out of 10, I'll give it a fair 10. Then we are delighted with Stoneface and Terminal's interpretation of Always. In the classical way, the remix punchier, with a tighter bassline and a similar Original breakdown. Though, after the break a tech trance madness takes place and the tracks takes off where it led off before te break. Not as en-trancier and it generally lost *that* magical feeling the Original has, but still this is one hell of a record. 8.5/10. Last but not least is Mike Shiver and his remix. Though by hearing it numerous times, it resembles a rework more than a remix, as Shiver kept most of the Original's bassline, pads and synths, and just "resprayed" a little where he thought it needed it. The percussion has less compression, so the track has more of a chilling feeling to it. As a whole I think Shiver could have been a little more imaginative and give the track a whole new feeling, keeping the Original's elements intact as he did. 7/10. With online releases appaearing every day, many producers are having a hard time looking relevant. There's a whole lot to swin in the huge sea of mediocrity that seldomly is the trance music scene, but tracks like Always makes that huge swin worthy. As a DJ I have found myself sppining the Original more often that the others, but the Stoneface and Terminal's treatment of Always is for sure a floor destroyer! The Original thus far is track of 2009 for me, but the whole release is sheer quality as well.
