This is an absolutely fantastic record. The A side, "The Search For Freedom" starts with some basic percussion and an easygoing bass line, and by the one minute mark some touches of melody start to appear. This one is all about about melody. Many, many trance songs derive their enjoyment from having lots of drive or euphoric build ups, but this one works on building a sense of anticipation that I've found very rare in trance, though techno seems very able to achieve this. Like Ritchie Hawtin's "Spasktik", Carl Craig's remix of Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom's "Relevee" or Beanfield's "Tides", this track teases and teases for a long time. It's not until the three minute mark that that a breakdown appears and the basic teasing melody evolves into a gorgeous symphony which continues for the remainder of the track. Can't recommend this one enough. The B side gets going a little harder and doesn't fail to disappoint either. It employs an acid tinged bass line that is reminiscent of Art Of Trance's work and has a more classic feel overall. Though not as unique or enjoyable as the A side, it's still a good listen.
