I'm a big Hammill fan but this (mostly) acoustic and vocal album is not really my cup of tea. I prefer his voice framed within a richer, denser musical setting. There is nothing substandard here, tracks such as 'The Ice Hotel' and 'Bareknuckle Trade' are top notch and need to be heard and appreciated more! No the problem lies with my personal like/dislike of a particular 'approach' of his (decisions I assume he makes very early in the conceptual realm) so I'm going to say 'average' but only because of the presentation. Still that LP closer blows me away every time...
