2006 was a year that saw an awful lot of trite electro-house records, and a handful that did the genre proud by returning it to its roots - 80s euro-disco on the one hand, and ear-splitting industrial music on the other. Holden's remix of Nazi Trance is firmly in the latter camp, an 11-minute noise-fest with drums indebted equally to Hawtin and 1960s phase music, and a mutating monster bassline that wouldn't be out of place on a Sunn o))) record, which finally submerges itself under twinkly synth arpeggios. Not quite the only time Holden's avant-gardist beat mangling could incite old-fashioned dancefloor mayhem...but close.
