The movie "Breakin' 'n' Enterin'" is a hard to come by solid gold classic!! You can watch it on youtube. It was filmed in 1982 and 1983. It is the perfect account of how "Break Dancing" hit California so hard at that time. This documentary was released in 1983 and is filled with Hip Hop legends.... Ice-T, Chris "the glove" Taylor, Egyptian Lover, Blue City Crew, and many more. Watching this is like taking a time machine back to 1983 in southern California! I was there living in Escondido,Ca. a member of the "Backstreet Breakers" at that time. What ever happened to Hip Hop? How did this die out so quick? Remember listening to Paul Hardcastle, The Art Of Noise, Malcolm McLaren, The Jonzun Crew, Arthur Baker, and Afrika Bambaataa? I loved Hip Hop back then..... to bad "Gangsta Rap" and the Record companies destroyed it!

Sad, but true. The time duration for any popular dance music genre is usually around 4 or 5 years on average. But that doesn't apply all the time of course. Sometimes the genre either merges with a brand new sub genre or dies out completely (see New Beat). Like anything in life, nothing stays the same, there's always change (for better or worse).

I'll tell you what happened! Times are always changing and the guys who made electro music stopped making it.

Electro funk does not get any better than this: sick beats made out of incredibly raw percussion sounds (check out the handclaps on 'Egyptian Lover's Theme'), simple little synth hooks done on crude crude synths, heavy bass and some great scratching and vocal cut-ups - nothing complicated, but the end result is amazing. The repressing is pretty good (clean sounding), and though no-one's claimed responsibility, the labelling is very similar to the Lone Records logo.
