★★★☆☆☆ Boone's final album recorded in the spring of 1998 and released just months before his death in february 1999 this set is just what could be expected. Like on the late chet Baker and Billie Holiday recordings, you can hear life itself fading in Boone's voice as he recites more than sings, lovingly carried by the danish band paying their tribute, making an album that insists more than exites. The atmosphere an most tracks is slow, shivering and nighty, like on the late Little Jimmy Scott recordings, set at a page that Boone can keep up with. On the last part of the record the speed goes up and Boone fails to stay in power and foreground on the swing standards, and that makes Boone's finest moment on the record the Jobim tune "Dindi" that in Boone's ebbing power loses the bossa and becomes an intense bop ballad. That's a swan song moment.
