Reviews:
  • Era
Like everyone else says, this sounds like compressed garbage. I only keep it so that I don't forget how bad it is and purchase another.
  • Rich Vulture
Side A of my pressing is OK with a few cracks and pops. Side B, song 2 has a nasty freaking distortion on left channel that I suppose could be due to no fill. Every time I listen to it and come to this part of the record I get frustrated and can't go further, never even heard the rest of the record. I then listen to the CD. I thought it could be just my copy and thought of buying another, maybe the 2xLP edition, but they all seem to be poor so I'll stick with the CD. I'll keep the LP though just for collection sake and the beautiful artwork.
  • Iriar
My copy is the exact same as others on here, silent parts in between songs are filled with clicks. And the audio production is slight better than cd/digital but maybe it was the way the album was recorded with every single instrument compressed. Bass does shine on this more than the CD. I might have to spin clean this one to get rid of the clicks and possible factory debris in the grooves. The album is amazing and one of my all time favorite Alt rock albums but definitely be leery of this version. I kinda kick myself for paying 25 bucks for this poor pressing.
  • Zugar
Got this new for $8.99 off Amazon and a little disappointed in the sound quality. Very compressed recording. Still better than the CD, but it could be more dynamic still.
  • Shaktit
A dynamically flat and compressed pressing just like all other iterations of the album. At some point I just have to come to terms with the fact that this is a poorly recorded album. The format can't be blamed here as the vinyl version of this album is actually slightly more dynamic than the CD version but with weak bass, thin guitars, and flat vocals there's not much room for improvement. The only thing I can do to save it is to boost the bass and turn it way up until the sound is one swelling indisernable bass blob.Still better than the CD copy. Thankfully my pressing was even, clean, and void of any clicks, pops, or skips.
  • Taur
Damn... I was thinking about buying another copy... Mine has many loud clicks.
  • Eta
The album itself - 5 out of 5 stars. This pressing? Truly horrible. Sounds like they buried speakers in the mud, and then recorded the resulting sound with a tape recorder. Awful.
  • Delagamand
Wow. Just a horrible press. I've gone through multiple pressings of this album and not a good one exists. Criminal that Matador keeps trying to jam 50+ minutes of music onto a single record. Come on.
  • JoJosho
Do you think if they did a new master and put it on two LPs it would help?
  • Zolorn
unless it's supposed to be considerably low fi, this is an awful pressing... i don't like it and i don't recommend it to anyone, it has considerable surface noise as well... as my experience increases with vinyl more and more i keep preferring heavier vinyl over light vinyl, not sure if it is just coincidence that they are just more carefully mastered in general but there is evident improvement in those heavier vinyl.
  • Timberahue
One of my favorite albums on one of the weakest sounding presses I own. :(
  • Painbrand
My press is completely warped. Dont think these were handled with the best care
  • Skiletus
Sounds nice. Packaging isn't mind blowing but well executed (no sticky sleeves). Wish it was 180g though. Picture insert, and download are a nice bonus.
