Lizzard - Majestic flac mp3 download

In the past few months since we founded this website I've come to a weird realisation. Sometimes it feels so good to be thrown back into the glorious nineties with their ripped jeans, their lumberjack shirts and their powerful music. Yet, maybe these glorious times have never really ended but instead opened the doors for a lot of bands to experiment, grow and achieve a sound of their own, something that can only benefit the enormous variety of sounds that we call 'the music industry'. But still, often I miss the times when music wasn't about being true, metal, hipster, goth, emo, hippie or whatever. It was about being yourself and finding your own comfort zone in the confusing society we live in. I know, good music makes me a bit melodramatic at times.In the accompanying biography we read "Lizzard provide an intense, emotive listening experience with ?Majestic?, and its dark and strident alternative rock sound will surely surprise fans of Tool, Karnivool and Deftones" and that might just be right on the spot. Deftones was actually the first band that came into mind when I started playing Majestic. But in all honesty, Lizzard does not yet reach the same level as the mentioned bands. I feel like it's a bit too early for that and I feel like Lizzard has yet to produce their best work, which will probably be breathtaking.Don't get me wrong, Majestic is not a bad album and the title is very suited for this piece of work. They have a grand and imposing sound with a lot of power and emotion. 'Vigilant' and 'Aoin' for example are very powerful songs with great guitar work. All songs seem to flow on simple but very vivid guitar riffs and straightforwarded drums. The result is an uncomplicated and in-your-face sound that is not easy to ignore. Often you can imagine this music being used as theme-song for a WWE wrestler or pay-per-view. Apart from the previously mentioned bands, Lizzard often flirts with the sophisticated atmospheres of bands like Opeth.So what's wrong with it? Well, there's two problems with this style of music. The first are the vocals, here and there they sound a bit overdone, as if the vocalist puts too much power and energy into them. On Majestic they are not bad, often hinting towards System of a Down, but on one or two occasions they misfire a bit. In all fairness, on 'Circles', an awesome rock ballad with great hit potential, the vocals really do reach perfection. The other pitfall in this genre is that most of the songs have the same basic tempo. With less talented bands this results in every song sounding exactly the same. Luckily for Lizzard they compensate this with a good 'drive', often floating on an effective bass-line and a lot of variation within the songs. 'Reminder' is a perfect example and another excellent song. To conclude I'd like to say that Majestic is more than a decent album, especially for fans of progressive and emotional rock music. If you like the bands above or you like Alice In Chains or even Soundgarden, get your copy now. Lizzard has definately done a good job with this CD and they sound like they have a lot more potential to explore. Majestic is highly recommended, but be aware, in a few years Lizzard just might take over the entire rock industry with a classic for this generation. www.merchantsofair.com
