Update: When I wrote my comment below, it was based on listening to one disc (#20, State of Independence 1990), and that just happened to be the one disc out of this entire set that had a problem. All the others are perfectly fine, very well mastered and with no obvious vinyl sources, aside from what sounds like some muffled surface noise in the opening second of "All Systems Go (Extended Remix)" on disc 13.Yet another mixed bag from Demon Music Group.Based on one disc I checked from this box, sound quality is generally excellent, with modern EQ and good dynamic range, no clipping or distortion. However, one of the rarer tracks, "State of Independence (No Drum Mix)" is apparently a vinyl transfer which has been run through a declicker filter with too-high settings, so the attacks of the percussion in the intro have all been softened, turning the music's taps and clacks into muffled scrapes.I don't understand why, when they have to resort to vinyl transfers, they can't just shell out for a mint copy of the record, and then manually declick it (it really does not take that long) or at least use the automatic filters with a much lighter touch. Instead, they apparently start with someone's beat-up, dirty records, and then they crank up the declicker settings, applying it to the whole song in one pass, until they don't hear any more clicks.

That's probably because that track was only an American single release and this is primarily a UK set. The U.S. single version of "The Woman In Me" has never seen the light of day on CD either. Although the running times are the same, the U.S version of this track eliminates Donna's voice-over in favor of just the music. Most likely, to allow radio DJs to talk over the opening of the track.

"Fascination" was a single in the US just not in Europe. It was not a "misprint". I have the regular 7" US single (which includes an edited version of Fascination) as well as the 7" Promo which has the edited version of "Fascination" on both sides.

Driven By the Music could not obtain license for her Casablanca material. As far as "Facination", it was not included (along with the promo only single "Thinkin' About My Baby") because it was not released in the UK and this boxset only covers her UK singles.

They own the Geffen and Atlantic masters, which is why all of these re-issues have concentrated on those releases.This is a complete collection of the material they own. "Fascination" was never a single, it was the B-side of "All Systems Go". Those vinyl singles are simply a mispress, placing "All Systems Go" on the B-side instead of the A-side.Now there are some single versions missing, such as "The Woman In Me" and "Work That Magic". But that's another matter.
