Been revisiting these mixes again recently, this is one of the best tech-house compilations ever! Personally I'd be attending the Tyrant nights (which the compilation was named after) at The Bomb in Nottingham back in the day, this takes me back to some great memories of Burridge, Richards, Congreve (?), etc, taking to the decks there and the people I used to dance amongst. Aside from personal memories, this compilation still sounds fresh today as it did 10 years ago, if you listen to the guys playing this type of music these days, not much has changed. I'm not saying those guys need to update their record boxes (or USB sticks as it is now), but rather that the Tyrant guys were way ahead of their time back in 2000.If you're into underground dance music or electronica, this is one compilation/mix you don't want to miss, it may be old now, but it's still as good as it used to be.My suggestion is to play disc 2 first, then disc 1 afterwards, this works out more like the actual sets these guys used to play at Tyrant.

In my top 10 mix compilations ever. I've never heard so many styles mixed together so well. I still listen to this after 9 years! CD 1 is particularly good. One way I judge the quality of a mix is by the extent of the impression that it leaves on me when it's finished and you really get that effect with this. It will be different for each listener but it will be strong. Another thing I noticed is how so many things are missed by the listener on the first few listens. You seem to notice other sounds as you listen again and again, which is magic! Essential!
