What kind of music has the power to resonate deep in people’s souls? What kind of sound is a truly good sound?

I’ve pondered these questions ever since I first picked up the saxophone at sixteen, and now, after twenty years of pursuing them, I offer this CD—my first as producer—as one potential answer. Every composition is original, building on traditional jazz swing and blues sounds to create original works that I hope will stand the test of time and endure the vagaries of history and fashion the same way beloved jazz standards have for decades and even centuries. In addition, this CD is the result of a fantastically rewarding collaboration with renowned Canadian musicians Paul Shrofel, Adrian Vedady, and André White. Playing with them during the recording sessions was a special experience—I could feel how music and sound can transcend race, language, culture and nationality, like a prayer expressing a universal message of togetherness. I hope the music we offer you will uplift and transport you, and bring to you a similar joy.
