This record is like a trip to Willy Wonka's dance music factory. Here we have a couple of obtuse, but nevertheless brilliant remixes. At first I was suprised at this sound considering that Crosstown is primarily known for straight forward tech house but then I remembered that the uber eccentric prince of afterhours, Damian Lazarus, runs the label. It all made a little more sense. I'm on my fifth (very) close listen of Ashley Beedle's ILL Communication remix and I still cannot decide what genre it belongs to. The first half of the track is an deep extended symphonic intro with big verbed out percussion and sinister elements. As the track progresses though it manages to completely shift gears and take on an uplifting spiritual vibe. At no point does the song ever break into a full out 4/4. Its breakbeat with deep house basslines fused into one giant lump of musical creativity. I've never heard anything like it. The Sukh Knight remix on the back is a badass little dubstep number. The vocal gets transformed and twisted into a futuristic cyborg version of its former self. Bass all over the place.
