Of course the overall refreshing, naive and in places quite kitsch Detroit techno meets exotica concept behind the whole Teknotika/GiGi Galaxy oeuvre is still unique and charming after all these years, with all the best early works compiled here, but the main reason to own this CD is the not-available-elsewhere (to my knowledge) "Ven-A-Mi", with its amazing progression of grandiloquent synthetic strings. This one would be the perfect opening tune for a blockbuster peplum movie a la "Ben-Hur" shot in the era of Detroit techno. Yes this reads a little bizarre but actually works. Gary Martin is a master of oddity.
