Reviews:
  • Manarius
All four sides of my copy are flat and quiet, and Sides A, B & C are perfectly centered (Side D is just slightly off-center). It sounds very good.
  • Sharpbrew
Reading previous comments, I guess I just have had bad luck. I had to ask for a second copy as the 1st one was scratched and full of fingerprints. My second copy has just come and it’s, again, full of fingerprints and with minor scratches, again.
  • Runemane
My copy sounds great, but the label on LP2 Side 1 is tripled up with one being off centered. Not a huge deal play wise as I just stop the album before it hits the empty part of the LP and hits the off center label, but still kind of a bummer given the price point. I have to agree with other commenters that some additional tracks would have been nice. 11 takes seems kinda paltry compared to prior Bootleg Series releases.
  • Ucantia
I hear nothing wrong with this album. It warm and wonderful, much like the original Blood on the Tracks. Very happy.

Christ am I relieved my ear is not so sophisticated...
  • Doomblade
Can anyone confirm if this pressing is not so great but the Europe one is fine? The commenters on that one seem pleased. There is always the common possible scenario that some copies of any release especially these days, sucks. Seems to be most of the time now you're either lucky to get a good one or unlucky to get a bad one depending on how bad the quality control was..
  • Delalbine
It's awesome can someone scan their booklet one page at a time.

After 27 years and 13 nicely boxed volumes we are now treated to... a double LP that isn't even in a gatefold sleeve? This could almost have been a single LP at that, given the run time and the amount of dead wax on each side. The paltry 4-page booklet is hardly a treat, either. Pretty disappointing given the high-quality efforts of the prior volumes in the Bootleg Series, and the status of these sessions in the Dylan canon. The actual songs are of course great, but this could have been padded out so much more. At the very least there's room on here for a version of "Call Letter Blues" and the one-off take of "Spanish is the Loving Tongue". After some incredible entries to the series with volumes 10 and 11, they slipped with 12, brought it back with 13 only to immediately slip again, but the ground is much harder and less forgiving this time. Blood on the tracks, indeed...

100% agree. Totally baffling that they would short change the vinyl release for one of the most anticipated entries in the bootleg series. Very disappointing.
  • Jazu
Great pressing, enjoyable release all around. Except for the static picture sleeves. Grrr
  • Yadon
Anybody knows where I can get this? Let me know.

I found this pressing to be mastered EXTREMELY hot, to the point where Dylan's voice and harmonica verge into distortion pretty regularly. Tried on two different turntables and got the same result. Got to the point where it was too distracting to listen to, and I'll probably try to return for a refund. Feeling disappointed, as I was really looking forward to this album.

Thursday night 13th Decembre 2018:I just bought a copy at Barnes and Noble and am spinning it now. Sounds fine to me, full, robust (as much as can be expected from such tapes, of course). Not “hot” at all (I gather you mean that you hear the mid-range being waaaaaayyy too forward/jacked-up, yes?) No defects either, so far.Btw, my copy indicates Ryan Smith’s/STERLING matrices; it also clearly says it was pressed at MPO in France. So, IS there such a thing as a US-pressed version? I’m not sure there is ... Anyway, much, much relief after having wasted my few $ on the Zimmy Fallen Angels LP a couple of years ago, pressed at the dreaded United Records Pressing. Non-fill on 2 copies. I’ll take a record cranked out by MPO, G/Z, the new plant in NJ, or even Rainbo in L.A. over a United POS any day.

What equipment were you using? I have not opened mine yet, but based on other reviews I think there is a great likelihood that it isn't the mastering.
  • Kazracage
Hate to read this :( Just got mine in today but haven't listened yet.

The hardback book is missing four pages from the notebooks. Sony apologise by saying "we are not perfect". Paying £100 for a 6CD / book set one might expect perfection. I'm also not a fan of the slots that the CDs fit into. They don't afford much protection. I prefer a proper sleeve or case.Everything else is great.

"Everything else is great". Actually everything else is not great. When I put the CD's into media player, no metadata appears. I'm not quite sure how metadata works, but I do know that a CDr won't show any unless I type it in manually. Sometimes it does not appear when you put the CD into the player, but you can search for album info. Only with this "deluxe" set, nothing comes up in the search. This is six weeks after the thing has been released. I have had to put it in manually whilst ripping the discs to my hard drive. On 70 tracks. On something that cost big bucks. This is not what I call "deluxe". This is so slack. Also, I have a bootleg CD called Blood In New York which is a completely acoustic take on BOTT. How come a well mastered version of this is not included in the way that the Beatles put the Esher Tapes on the deluxe version of The Beatles (White Album)? There is not one CD out of six on More Blood that is the complete album. There's 12 takes of You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go included, is that really necessary? There's five tracks from the official album. On a bootleg series! But no Blood In New York. All in all, I think its pretty shoddy for something that cost around £100. The front cover is horrible as well. I have collected all of the bootleg series, throughout I've been waiting for Blood On The Tracks. 14 volumes later it is finally released and I have never felt more disappointed. The only one I want now is Desire, but to be honest after my experiences with this set, I might not bother with that one when they get around to doing it.

In fact the hardback book is missing six pages of the lyric notebook! Sony have admitted to four - pages 8,9,10 & 11 - which contain the handwritten lyrics to the second half of Tangled Up In Blue and the lyrics to You're A Big Girl Now. Sony have provided a PDF of those pages at bobdylandotcom. However, the hardback book is also missing pages 52 & 53 of the notebook. It looks like p.53 contained the lyrics to an unknown song - Little Bit of Rain. Sony have yet to apologise or offer a PDF of those two pages. (Why they didn't check this before issuing an apology is beyond me.)Having said that, it is no reason not to buy this otherwise fantastic box set. There are lyrics to several unknown/unrecorded songs in the notebook and the music on the discs sounds incredible. It's an absolute treat for fans of Blood On The Tracks - if you love that album you are going to be delighted by these sessions.

Thanks a lot! Just read those entries on amazon and found those sites on bobdylan.com

The hardback book is meant to contain Dylan's entire "Blood On The Tracks" notebooks (the notebooks he used to write the albums's lyrics). Due to Sony's error four pages are missing. If you read the Amazon reviews you can learn more. It's annoying as two of the missing pages are the second half of Tangled Up In Blue. If you got to Bobdylan.com you can view the missing pages (link on homepage). The music is great and the CDs sound really good. If you can live with the incomplete notebook then you will enjoy the set.
  • Malak
Hi Bradx, can you tell me a little bit more about those missing pages? I am thinking about getting this box after listening to the superb vinyl and the other version on AppleMusic. So, what are those missing pages and where are they missing? Thanks a lot,Joerg

This is a top notch release. The music itself is lovely and a really refreshing alternative to the classic original album, and the pressing itself is one of the cleanest I have heard in a long time. Sound quality is excellent throughout, and MPO have done a great job of making this a really enjoyable listen.
