Notes

All song versions featured here are the same as those on later promos and the finalised release however the individual track masterings vary, are noticeably quieter and sometimes have gaps at the start of the track. The finalised release featured some tracks with reversed stereo channels next to their original release but that is not the case here; notably Ceremony features the original 1981 channel mix with hi-hats panned right.

As the title suggests, this was obviously an initial stage of the compilation before being passed to the mastering service. The B&W insert and both CDrs are housed in a slim PVC sleeve with a separating paper between the discs. Track durations on the B&W insert are mostly inaccurate and have been corrected by a read of each disc. Miscellaneous track information below:

1-1, 1-3, 1-4, 1-6, 1-7, 1-9 to 1-11 previously unavailable on CD.
1-6, 1-14 and 2-16 previously unreleased (new mixes).
1-5 and 1-13 are the original 12" versions.
1-8, 1-12 and 2-4 are the original LP versions.
1-6 is a new edit of the previously available 'Rough Mix' from Confusion.
1-11 is mis-spelt for State Of The Nation.
1-12 is an abbreviation for Bizarre Love Triangle.
2-1 should indicate it is the 1988 remix but does not.
2-16 is technically not eligible for single status as it was never released as such.
