Recently stole my dad's copy of this to listen to it. Hard to believe the only compilation from Mel Tillis' daughter that's cropped up since is a 16-track "Country Legends" disc that, as far as the Discogs database knows, only came out in Europe. What we've got here is ten tracks from Pam's first four Arista albums (Put Yourself in My Place, Homeward Looking Angel, Sweetheart's Dance, All of This Love), plus two new cuts ("Land of the Living", "All of the Good Ones are Gone") that open the album (and ruin the otherwise chronological sequencing). But how's the music?Let me just say that this delivers. Even if this kind of music isn't your thing, you can't deny that Pam has a wonderful voice. Not only that, but the material's all consistently good - if I were to pick a highlight, I'd say "Maybe It Was Memphis" fo' sho' (though I also like such tracks as "Spilled Perfume", "Land of the Living", and "Let That Pony Run"), but really, Greatest Hits is a strong disc through and through. Should you ever want to get into Tillis' music, you could do worse than start here.
