This came about because Caspar Pound used to run a club night with Shades Of Rhythm in their hometown of Peterborough.

The "Hippy Mix" is the one to check out on this 12". The track has a laid back vibe, with its rich warm bassline, overlaid with a breakbeat loop, with various synths giving the track another world feel, topped off with the vocal "You are a child of the universe - receive in me love " .Not a huge anthem or anything just a nice chilled tune that maybe worth a listen.

A great record on a great label (and even one of the rarer ones), this is what its name suggests: A calmdown type of tune from the birthyear of hardcore. The original mix of the tune remained unreleased. Caspar Pound's Hippy Mix comes closer to sounding like the original as it is calmer and showcases its samples more clearly; it's also this mix that grabbed my attention for the record because of the accented breakbeat. This tune builds a bridge between hardcore and downbeat while evolving through different parts, yet never completely taking off. The question remains why the mindblowing sub-bass that appears during a break in the middle of the tune just disappears again some twenty seconds later and is not heard of again. The Shades Of Rhythm Mix is great as well, by now I even prefer it. It is extremely well mixed for the time and arranges the different sounds in layers rather than in many different parts; breakbeats are also used but they are very well hidden into a techno beat. The break at mid-tune when the organ type synth plays solo is just gorgeous. Another plus is the absence of spoken or any vocal samples in the S/O/R Mix (as the spoken samples in the Hippy Mix are cool, yet overused), and it has exactly the right length with its five minutes. The only minus is its bassline, which just isn't deep enough. Still, it's a very strong remix by Shades Of Rhythm.
